We are recruiting for two experienced Childcare Lawyers to join a busy legal team on an initial three-month contract. The roles are predominantly remote, although successful candidates must be able to attend court approximately twice per week. There is also the potential for the positions to become permanent for the right candidates.

The Role

  • Manage a varied childcare law caseload and provide high-quality legal advice and representation in relation to children and family matters.
  • Responsibilities are likely to include:
    • Managing a caseload of childcare and public law matters
    • Advising on care proceedings and related children matters
    • Conducting advocacy and attending court approximately twice per week
    • Preparing applications, statements, evidence and court documentation
    • Advising clients on complex and sensitive childcare cases
    • Working closely with social care professionals and other stakeholders
    • Attending legal planning and other relevant meetings
    • Providing clear and practical legal advice throughout proceedings
    • Ensuring cases are progressed effectively and within required timescales

About You

  • Have substantial experience handling childcare/public law cases
  • Are confident managing their own caseload
  • Have strong knowledge of relevant children and family law
  • Have experience of court advocacy
  • Can attend court approximately twice per week
  • Have excellent drafting, communication and case-management skills
  • Are comfortable working independently in a predominantly remote role

Contract Details

  • Rate: £55 per hour
  • Hours: 37 hours per week across five days
  • Start: 1 September 2026
  • End: 1 December 2026
  • Working arrangement: Remote apart from court attendance approximately twice per week
