Stores Assistant
Location: Knaresborough HG5 Pay: £15.38 per hour (PAYE) Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (Full Time) Contract: 3 Months Initially – Potential for Permanent Employment
We're currently recruiting for a Stores Assistant to join a busy waste recovery facility on a full-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation with the potential to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.
## The Role
As a Stores Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site's stores function.
You'll be responsible for receiving, organising and issuing stock, helping to ensure engineering and operational teams have the materials and equipment they need to keep the site running efficiently.
## Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect and book in deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.
Check goods for damage, quality and accuracy, reporting any discrepancies.
Store stock safely and efficiently, ensuring correct labelling and stock locations.
Issue parts, tools and consumables to engineering and operational teams.
Update inventory records using stock control systems (such as SAP, Maximo, Pirana or similar).
Carry out routine stock checks and assist with periodic stocktakes.
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or reordering requirements.
Handle and store hazardous materials in line with COSHH regulations and site procedures.
Prepare materials for planned maintenance activities.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe stores environment.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the stores and logistics function. ## What We're Looking For
Previous experience in a stores, warehouse or inventory role.
Experience within an industrial, engineering, manufacturing or energy environment is highly desirable.
Familiarity with stock control or inventory management systems.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths. ### Desirable
- Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence
