Our client is looking for a Senior Town Planning Officer, who will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality Development Management services. You will provide expert planning advice, manage a varied caseload of minor and other planning applications, and support the delivery of wider planning objectives across the authority.
Working within the Planning and Development team, you will help ensure that development proposals align with our place-shaping ambitions, supporting the right development, in the right place, at the right time. Contribute proactively to the effective delivery of the Planning Service, supporting corporate objectives and continuous improvement.
Assist in responding to complaints and enquiries from customers, MPs, and Councillors in line with corporate standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in DEF and IT systems to support performance monitoring and statutory targets. Provide technical planning advice across a wide range of development proposals.
Process and assess minor and other planning applications, preparing clear and robust reports and recommendations. Support the Major Projects Team where additional technical expertise is required. Assist with pre-application enquiries, appeals, enforcement cases, and Planning Performance Agreements in line with service standards.
You will be an experienced planning professional with a strong understanding of Development Management processes. You will be confident in managing your own caseload, making sound planning judgements, and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in Development Management and dealing with planning applications and appeals.
- Must have a full clean driving licence.
The role is office based/hybrid with one day a week in the office and the occasional site visit, working 37 hours a week from 9am to 5pm.
