About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Education Capital & Place Planning Officer to support the planning and delivery of education provision for children and young people aged 0-25. The role focuses on ensuring sufficient school places are available through effective place planning, capital project delivery, and partnership working. You will support new school builds, manage education capital projects, and help improve and decarbonise the maintained schools estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support school place planning and forecast future education provision needs.
- Work with schools, admissions teams, planners, developers, and stakeholders to ensure sufficient education places.
- Identify planning developments requiring Section 106 education contributions.
- Support and manage education capital projects, including new school builds and expansions.
- Process funding agreements and prepare reports, briefings, and project updates.
- Monitor project budgets, risks, timelines, and consultant performance.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, consultations, and project communications.
- Support schools with Asset Management Plans and sustainability/decarbonisation initiatives.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy, and education capital guidance.
Person Specification - Essential
- Experience in education planning, capital projects, estates, or a related field.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to analyse data and prepare clear reports.
- Good understanding of planning processes and education infrastructure delivery.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Degree level or equivalent i.e. NVQ 4, HNC.
