Pay Rate: Β£240 per day PAYE + Holiday Pay

Lynx Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of a major highway maintenance programme across Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a winter readiness workstream across a 4,500km highway network, ensuring preventative maintenance works are completed ahead of the winter season.
Working alongside experienced Project Managers and highways professionals, you will help coordinate multiple maintenance schemes, manage contractors and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on schedule.
The Role
- Support the planning and delivery of highway maintenance and infrastructure projects across the county, working closely with internal teams, contractors and local stakeholders.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of highway maintenance and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinating preventative highway maintenance works across district-wide programmes.
- Assisting with the planning, programming and monitoring of multiple projects.
- Working closely with Streetworks, Reactive Maintenance and Contractor teams to maximise delivery before December.
- Supporting the management of project budgets, risks and programme performance.
- Assisting with contractor management to ensure quality, safety and contractual compliance.
- Building positive relationships with elected members, parish councils, residents and key stakeholders.
- Preparing project reports and progress updates.
- Undertaking regular site visits to inspect works, agree project extents and monitor progress.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience working within Highway Maintenance.
- Previous experience working for a Local Authority.
- Experience supporting the delivery of highway maintenance or associated infrastructure projects.
- Good understanding of highway maintenance, project delivery and design principles.
- Experience coordinating contractors and multiple workstreams.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Experience managing project budgets or supporting financial reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
- Full UK driving licence (DVLA check required prior to commencement).
Desirable
- Previous experience working within Cambridgeshire.
- Experience using MS Project or similar project planning software.
- HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- PRINCE2, APM or similar Project Management qualification.
