Overview We are currently seeking a proactive and self-motivated Engineer (NRASWA Inspector) to join a dedicated Streetworks team. This role is ideal for someone with an eye for detail, strong communication skills, and an interest in highways and streetworks compliance. As an inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring highway works are delivered in accordance with national legislation and local permitting schemes helping to maintain safety and minimise disruption across the road network. Key Responsibilities Inspect streetworks sites to ensure compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 , Highways Act 1980 , and Traffic Management Act 2004 . Monitor work quality, reinstatement standards, and safety provisions on active and completed sites. Respond to incidents and take immediate action when highway dangers are identified. Monitor licensed activities such as scaffold and skip placements. Report on works in progress, defects, overruns, and apparatus issues. Use handheld devices and software to log inspections and coordinate with the wider team. Assist with high-profile projects and public event planning where highway access is affected. What You\’ll Need Ideally, a valid NRSWA Supervisor accreditation (Operative level considered if willing to train to Supervisor within 6 months). Good working knowledge of highway regulations, permitting systems, and streetworks procedures (preferred). IT competence, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and handheld inspection tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in public-facing situations. A calm, organised, and self-driven work style with the ability to manage a varied workload.
