Social Media Officer in Chelmsford

Social Media Officer Brentwood & Rochford \| 3\-month contract \| £16\.66–£17\.90 per hour PAYE \| 37 hours per week Lynx Employment Services are currently recruiting for a Social Media Officer to join the Communications team supporting Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council. This is a great opportunity for a creative social media professional who can take council projects, services and achievements and turn them into content that people actually want to engage with. ### The role You’ll be responsible for creating and managing content across the councils’ social media channels, including: Creating engaging written, visual and multimedia content Producing social posts, articles and campaign messaging Creating graphics and imagery for social media, newsletters and internal communications Taking and editing smartphone photography and video Scheduling, publishing and monitoring content Responding to comments and messages in a friendly, professional and human way Monitoring social media activity and identifying trends Using customer insight and campaign data to improve content Keeping up with new social media platforms and emerging trends Supporting the wider Communications Team with campaigns and digital content ### About you We’re looking for someone who is creative, proactive and comfortable taking an idea from concept through to finished content. You’ll ideally have: Proven experience managing social media accounts professionally Strong experience creating and editing video, images and written content Experience with photography, filming, sound and editing Experience using social media scheduling and management tools The ability to turn complex information into simple, engaging content Experience creating graphics, ideally using Canva Strong proofreading and attention to detail Experience reporting on social media performance and identifying trends A background in communications, journalism, digital media or relevant experience A full UK driving licence Experience of working in a local government, public services or political communications environment would be useful. ### Contract details Location: Brentwood & Rochford Working pattern: 2–3 days in the office across both locations, with remaining days working from home Duration: 3 months Hours: 37 hours per week Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm Friday Rate: £16.66–£17.90 per hour PAYE If you're a creative social media professional looking for your next opportunity, apply now or contact Elliott at Lynx Employment Services for more information
