The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Projects Systems Accountant to join a busy local authority finance team on a 9-12 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong financial systems experience to lead key projects, support system improvements and work collaboratively with Finance and ICT teams to deliver effective financial management solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial systems projects, upgrades and the ongoing development of the Council's corporate financial management systems.
- Support and monitor key finance projects, providing regular updates on progress, risks and outcomes.
- Act as the specialist advisor on financial systems, ensuring robust processes, controls and reporting are maintained.
- Manage system configuration, user access, testing, training and stakeholder engagement across the organisation.
- Work closely with Finance and ICT teams to deliver system enhancements and resolve technical issues.
- Support budget monitoring, year-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting activities.
- Contribute to budgeting, budgetary control and the production of accurate financial reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and efficiencies.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in budgeting, budgetary control and financial reporting.
- Proven experience delivering finance systems upgrades, implementations or finance transformation projects.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance, ICT and wider business teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience configuring and supporting corporate financial management systems.
- A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects to deadlines.
Qualifications
AAT qualified, part-qualified or fully qualified accountant. CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification is desirable.
