Pay Rate: £291.27 per day PAYE

Lynx Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of highway maintenance and infrastructure projects across Cambridgeshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced highways professional with a strong local authority background who can successfully manage multiple projects, contractors, budgets and stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
The Role
You will take responsibility for delivering a varied programme of highway maintenance and infrastructure schemes, working closely with internal teams, contractors, elected members, parish councils and other key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the development and delivery of highway maintenance and infrastructure projects.
- Planning and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously to meet programme deadlines.
- Managing project budgets, financial reporting and programme performance.
- Coordinating design, procurement and project delivery activities.
- Managing contractors and ensuring performance, quality and contractual compliance.
- Building effective relationships with elected members, parish councils, residents and other stakeholders.
- Monitoring project risks and implementing mitigation measures.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
- Carrying out site visits to review progress, agree project extents and inspect completed works.
- Preparing reports and providing regular project updates to senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 10 years' experience within Highway Maintenance.
- Significant Project Management experience delivering highway maintenance and associated infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience working within a Local Authority.
- Strong understanding of highway design principles and project delivery.
- Experience managing high-volume programmes of work.
- Experience managing contractors and holding them accountable for performance.
- Strong budget management and financial control experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience working with elected members and parish councils.
- Full UK driving licence (DVLA check required before commencement).
Desirable
- Previous experience working within Cambridgeshire.
- Knowledge of local highway infrastructure.
- Experience using project planning software such as MS Project.
- Relevant Project Management or Engineering qualification (PRINCE2, APM, HND, Degree or equivalent).
