We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Building Control Officer in the Birmingham (B32) area. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday and will require a BPSS security clearance prior to starting employment.

Role Purpose

To ensure the effective coordination and cost-efficient execution of building asset maintenance, while upholding high standards of customer service. This role focuses on the delivery of timely support, maintenance scheduling, supplier management, and compliance monitoring to sustain operational integrity and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive and professional telephone support, minimizing wait times and reinforcing a positive customer experience.
  • Take ownership of customer requests, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Collaborate proactively with customers and contractors to improve service delivery.
  • Set realistic expectations through clear, consistent communication.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved issues appropriately to maintain service continuity.
  • Review, authorize, or reject maintenance and repair quotations based on manufacturer standards, photographic evidence, and technical reports.
  • Ensure all approvals align with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve defect reports raised by building users.
  • Manage and resolve invoice discrepancies, escalating as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance costs while ensuring work quality is maintained.
  • Schedule building maintenance activities to ensure legal compliance, optimize resource usage, and minimize disruption to operations.
  • Record and track building-related activity and ensure the timely completion of required documentation.
  • Produce weekly compliance reports and ensure all legislative deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation to support audits and regulatory review.
