Founded in November 2023 by Sebastian Jory, Lynott Partners is a nascent absolute return manager backed by long-term private capital with $750m of AUM. The current team of four focuses on UK and European equities. The business has the ambition and infrastructure to grow strategies beyond the core successful European long/short offering to long-only, global and quant mandates.

Role & Responsibilities

The role encompasses building models (including using alternative data to drive them), submitting investment cases, and taking responsibility for top-to-bottom coverage on the analysts’ independently driven investment ideas.

We run a sector-agnostic strategy; however, we encourage analysts to bring deep sector/industry edge and generally work in sector specialist sub-groups.

More specifically, work will include:

  • Finding and researching bottom-up stock-specific equity ideas
  • Taking responsibility for live ideas with ‘holistic’ coverage of approximately 30 stocks, and perhaps a further 50 stocks at ‘arms-length’ coverage
  • Aiding PMs and analysts in helping automate data science workflows as per all team members

A core contribution of the employee will also be to lean into data engineering and automation, AI, and ensuring the analyst can use all tools available to maintain an edge.

Requirements & Experience

  • 5 years of experience either on the buy-side (multi-manager setting preferred) or as a sell-side principal coverage analyst (not supporting analyst)
  • Evidence of a track record of ideas, ideally auditable and available for confirmation via reference checks
  • Proficient modeler, with strong numerical and analytical skills that will be tested at assessment

Additional nice-to-have requirements & skills

  • Top degree from a top-tier University
  • Strong communicator and ability to explain idea conviction
  • Proficient programmer with some side projects
  • CFA charterholder or similar corporate finance/accounting qualification
  • Experience with market-related APIs (e.g. Factset, VisibleAlpha) and add-ins (Bloomberg)
  • Good experience with Google Sheets (distinct from Excel)
  • Candidate is highly driven & motivated to produce best-in-class outcomes
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to integrity, honesty, and personal growth
