My Client based in the BT13 area of Belfast requires a Medical Receptionist to join their team on a part-time basis. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will provide a point of contact for patients; assist in the day-to-day running of the surgery; and act as a point of communication between patients, doctors, and other medical staff. This post is temporary with the view to becoming permanent.

Reception Duties:

  • General reception duties - greeting patients in person and on the telephone
  • Making and cancelling appointments
  • Providing information regarding practice services
  • Entries into patient’s computer records as directed
  • Liaising with pharmacists and nursing homes, where required, to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised
  • Coordinating patient appointments, hospital letters, prescription requests, and information with the Treatment Room nurses and other staff members to ensure procedures are effective, and patients’ and doctors’ requirements are met in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Diary management
  • Maintain a tidy reception desk and public areas
  • Organising, filing, and maintaining patient records
  • Undertake opening and locking up of surgery as required

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a similar role to include telephone and face-to-face contact (previous proven experience in a GP surgery advantageous)
  • Fully computer literate
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Educated to GCSE grades A – C including English and Maths
  • Flexible approach to work
  • An understanding, acceptance, and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality
  • An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, personal initiative, and knowledge to respond to patients’ enquiries and requests

21.5 hours pw – Mon 8.30am - 6pm, Wed 8.30am - 1pm & Fri 8.30am - 6pm

£12.98 per hour
