About Lymm High School
Lymm High School is a well‑established 11‑18 comprehensive school with over 1,950 students, including 400 in the 6th form. The school offers extensive resources, including 28 acres of grounds, a swimming pool, leisure complex, and our own residential centre in Anglesey. We have a strong track record of excellent exam results at KS4 and KS5, and a supportive, positive staff culture.
Design Technology Department
The department is part of the Faculty of Art and Design and teaches a wide range of skills. Design Technology is taught from KS3 (Years 7‑9), with additional 3D Design offered at KS5. Our students produce high‑quality work, consistently achieving progress scores above +1. Facilities include two laser cutters, two traditional workshops, a CAD suite, and a designated sixth‑form design studio.
Role & Responsibilities
- We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed team player capable of teaching Design Technology up to KS4, with the opportunity to teach at KS5 if desired.
- The post is suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECT) and experienced teachers.
- Planning, delivering, and assessing Design Technology lessons for KS3‑KS4/5
- Co‑creating curriculum and resources in line with national standards
- Mentoring and supporting student projects, including 3D Design
- Collaborating with colleagues across the faculty and school
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive classroom environment
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Successful teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to teach Design Technology or a related subject
- Commitment to children’s safeguarding and welfare
Desirable:
- Experience teaching at KS5
- Experience using CAD, laser cutters, or other design technology equipment
- Experience working with a diverse student body
