Overview

Lydden Surgery has a vacancy for a qualified Dispenser to work up to 16 hours per week plus annual leave cover. The role involves all aspects of dispensary duties including delivery of medication to patients. The core hours will be Thursday 8:00 – 5:00 and Friday 9:30 – 6:30. Some leave and sickness cover will be required across our opening hours of 8:00 – 6:30. The post-holder will project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way. They will assist in the preparation, dispensing and sale of prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary.

Team

Our diverse practice team comprises: General Practitioners both Male and Female, Practice Nurses, two Health Care Assistants, Dispensers, Medical Secretaries, Administrators and Receptionists.

As a team we offer the following services

  • Routine bookable appointments with the clinician of your choice
  • Same day bookable appointments (for urgent problems unfortunately we cannot offer a choice of clinician for these)
  • Home visits for housebound patients who cannot attend the practice
  • A range of nursing clinics and services such as chronic disease management, blood tests, ECGs, dressings, blood pressure testing, warfarin clinics, hypertension clinics and NHS health checks
  • The practice participates in the PCN patient participation group. We have dispensing services, online appointment booking and electronic transfer of prescriptions. Since June 2023 we have implemented Patient Triage all requests for clinical assistance are triaged by the GP led triage team

Requirements

Working pattern

The successful candidate must have the ability to be flexible, be able to cover annual leave and sick leave and understand the work rota for this role may change including the days of work. The working day is 8 to 6:30 and the post holder will be required to work during all of these hours.

Lydden Surgery is an established practice which moved from River to our current purpose built premises in the picturesque village of Lydden in October 2011. We are a rural dispensing practice.
