Join us to apply for the Senior Production Technician – Electrics role at LW Theatres. As a member of the technical department at His Majesty’s Theatre, home of Phantom of the Opera, you will be working on one of the most iconic shows in the world. The lighting department seeks to recruit a senior production technician on all lighting & electrical elements to facilitate the smooth and safe running of the show. In addition to Phantom of the Opera, His Majesty’s Theatre hosts an array of Sunday concerts and stage schools that give many young people a chance to experience performing on a West End stage.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work as part of the lighting department to facilitate the needs of the shows, and all technical rehearsals of The Phantom of the Opera.
  • Cover the following roles during rehearsals and performances: Lighting Desk Operator, Stage Electrics, Pyrotechnics Operator, Follow‑Me Operator, Follow‑Spot Operator.
  • Prep the show each day and help conduct safety checks.
  • Work closely with the visiting company and its Stage Management to ensure smooth and safe operation of each show.
  • Manage show consumable stock levels.
  • Work as part of a team to maintain a professional work environment, ensuring performers, technicians and audience members are safe.
  • Problem‑solve during live performances.
  • Supervise & conduct rig checks for the show when required.
  • Supervise & conduct maintenance on the set, lighting, pyro & special‑effects rigs of the show so it always looks its best.
  • Take on other supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ad‑hoc project work as directed by the Head of Department.
  • Manual handling as necessary; training provided.

What we need:

  • Experience working in a West End show or production environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of ETC EOS control systems and lighting networks.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team in a vibrant, lively environment.
  • Open‑minded with a willingness to learn, train and be trained.
  • A proactive and professional manner with good time‑keeping.
  • Conscientious, accurate, detail‑oriented work.
  • Logical, methodical, with the ability to follow instruction precisely.
  • Adaptable, initiative‑driven problem‑solver.
  • Electrical qualifications and an understanding of theatre health and safety desirable.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Happy to work evenings and weekends.

Salary:

  • Hours of Work: 40 hours over 6 days
  • Weekly Salary: ÂŁ689.20 (SOLT/BECTU Agreement – Sunday and Bank holidays paid at double time) → ÂŁ40,000–£50,000 per annum.
  • Show Bonus: ÂŁ86.15 per week (1/6 per day worked)
