The Wine Business Manager Off-Trade (WBM) acts as the commercial business partner on the Moët Hennessy still wine portfolio in the off-trade and department store sales channels. Having a strong expertise in both the wine category and sales, the WBM drives wine performance across the relevant customers and prospects, with a focus on accounts that have the potential to sell premium wines.
Working closely with the Head of Wines, the Wines brand team and the Heads of Sales, the WBM identifies and actions the key sales priorities on wines in the off-trade and department stores sales channels, focusing on driving distribution, rate of sale and increasing the revenue contribution of the still wine category. The WBM works collaboratively with the portfolio Account Managers on commercial pitches to obtain distribution, as well as rate of sale driving activities such as training and activation. Besides the work on Moët Hennessy portfolio accounts, the Wine Business Manager account manages a selection of wine-led Specialists customers under their own sales sector.
Job responsibilities
- Commercial Business Partner on Wines: Win on wines at strategic Moët Hennessy off-trade and department stores accounts, working with the portfolio sales team to drive distribution as well as rate of sale of the still wines portfolio. Identify sales opportunities based on the overall commercial objectives for the wine brands and the dynamics in the sales channel. Manage wine pitches to customers and prospects, working closely with portfolio account managers. Drive premiumisation (and therefore profitability) of the wine category where possible, by using wine expertise to demonstrate wine credentials and commercial relevance of the premium wines within the portfolio. Lead trainings and tastings on the wine category, focusing on driving rate of sale of wine listings. Be the point of contact on Wines for the relevant Heads of Sales and Sales Managers, influencing commercial initiatives by providing regular updates on sales performance on the wine category in their channels. Provide sales channel expertise to the Wines brand team and the wine Maisons for guidance on brand strategy and activations.
- Account Management: Manage own account base of wine-led customers in the Specialists channel, ensuring renewal and continuity in doing business. Manage the P&L in the sector effectively and precisely. Identify business opportunities and lead contract negotiations within the sector for wine-led prospects accounts, with a focus on accounts that can carry our premium wines. Manage, implement and evaluate promotional activity at accounts that will drive brand visibility.
- Advocacy and Driving Wine Culture: Deliver excellent training for trade and consumers alike where necessary. Host and entertain key sector individuals at MHUK events and tastings, and act as an ambassador for the Moët Hennessy wines portfolio. Drive wine culture internally at MHUK, through initiatives such as wine tastings and wine education. Work closely with Moët Hennessy Wine Estates on commercial and wine culture projects. Be a core member of the MHUK Wines department, actively pursuing the spirit of conquest value.
