Job Summary
This role works under direct supervision to take and/or direct timely and appropriate real-time actions to maintain the reliability of the Bulk Electric System during both normal and emergency conditions.
Critical reliability-related tasks are performed under the direct, continuous supervision and observation of a Transmission System Operator, Senior Transmission System Operator, or Supervisor of Electric Transmission Operations.
Responsibilities include
- Monitoring elements of the bulk electric system and responding to status changes.
- Responding to disturbances, emergency events, weather impacts, and other system condition changes, while making appropriate internal and external notifications.
- Monitoring voltage and reactive power flows and utilizing reactive resources to maintain voltage schedules.
- Preparing switching orders that isolate work areas and establish safe zones of protection for field personnel and equipment.
- Providing verbal instructions to field personnel engaged in switching operations and making appropriate notifications.
- Controlling transmission and distribution equipment using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems as needed.
- Monitoring and regulating power flows among interconnected entities.

- Must complete the company's System Operations-defined Operator Qualification Program within 18 months of start date.
