Overview A leading transmission infrastructure organization is seeking an experienced engineering professional to support the planning, procurement, design, commissioning, and long-term management of advanced transmission system assets.
This role will serve as a technical subject matter expert supporting the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of power electronic and grid modernization technologies used throughout a high-voltage transmission network.
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and external suppliers to ensure the reliable performance of complex transmission assets and to support new capital projects from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the application, procurement, commissioning, and lifecycle management of advanced transmission technologies.
- Support engineering and construction activities associated with high-voltage transmission and substation projects.
- Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and operational support of power electronic transmission equipment.
- Develop asset management strategies, maintenance standards, and engineering specifications for transmission infrastructure.
- Review engineering designs, technical documentation, equipment specifications, and vendor deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support project execution and long-term asset performance.
- Participate in equipment evaluations, factory testing, site commissioning, and field investigations as required.
- Support the development and validation of equipment models used in power system studies and performance analysis.
- Assist in establishing engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices related to transmission equipment applications.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience supporting transmission, substation, or power system engineering projects.
- Experience with power electronic transmission technologies, reactive power compensation systems, or grid modernization equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of transmission system design principles, equipment specifications, and industry standards.
- Experience supporting large capital projects, EPC contracts, or utility infrastructure programs.
- Familiarity with electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies and related simulation tools such as PSCAD, EMTP, RSCAD, or similar software is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated project management, organizational, and technical leadership skills.
