We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer - Electrical Design Studies to lead and deliver advanced design and analysis projects across transmission, distribution, and generation networks. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, mentoring team members, and collaborating directly with clients to achieve impactful outcomes.
The successful candidate will have strong expertise in areas such as grounding, insulation coordination, electromagnetic transients, and power quality. You will work in a dynamic, client-focused environment and partner with multidisciplinary teams to support utility and energy clients across North America.
Key Responsibilities- Lead technical studies related to grounding, insulation coordination, AC interference, and transient simulations.
- Develop detailed models and perform analysis using tools such as PSCAD, ATP-EMTP, CDEGS, and WinIGS.
- Communicate complex technical results in a clear, actionable manner for clients.
- Assist with proposal development, project scoping, and client engagement.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing initiatives.
- Collaborate with protection, planning, and field engineering teams to integrate study outcomes.
- Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of quality, compliance, and industry best practices.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and industry events.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
- 10+ years of experience in power system studies, with emphasis on design studies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects independently.
- Strong communication skills and experience in client-facing roles.
- Proficiency in PSCAD, ATP-EMTP, CDEGS, WinIGS.
- Familiarity with ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, ETAP, PSS/E, PowerWorld, or Python scripting is a plus.
- Graduate-level coursework or certifications in power systems or EMTP.
- Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng.) license.
- Experience in protection or system planning studies.
- Prior involvement in proposal and business development activities.
