About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Internal Auditor who can undertake independent audit reviews on the management of risk and to report on the adequacy and effectiveness of the systems of control; in order to provide assurance to the Board and senior management.
We support Hybrid working however we will require you in our Bournemouth offices at least monthly.
About You/Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for leading, planning and executing internal audit assignments to assess the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes within LV=. Delivering these audits in line with the audit objectives set out in the annual LV= Internal Audit plan, within budget, and in a professional manner, to provide assurance on risk management and systems of control. This will include specifically:
- undertaking audit planning and contributing to defining of the scope and drafting of the Terms of Reference for individual audits, as required, for discussion and agreement with the IA SLT and LV= business senior management.
- ascertaining, documenting and evaluating systems and controls, and propose audit findings relating to noted control gaps and weaknesses, agreeing these findings with LV= senior management.
- drafting reports, including findings and remedial actions, agreed with LV= senior management, so that effective systems of control are maintained within LV=.
- Apply commercial awareness and influencing skills when working with senior stakeholders to address key risk areas and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations, including verifying and documenting closure of audit actions.
- Contribute to the ongoing continuous development of the IA function, by participating in delivering improvement plan activities and undertaking quality assurance reviews.
- Contribute to improving business processes and to building relationships with LV= business area stakeholders, by providing insights on risk management and control improvements.
- Complete all internal training modules and attend internal learning and development sessions, supplemented by external learning options where appropriate, to enhance and maintain competency in technical and soft skill areas to enable effective delivery of audit work. To share key learnings from external training with the IA team.
- Participate in LV-wide initiatives, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) activities.
Key Skills and experience
- Proven experience in internal audit, external audit or a related regulatory role, such as compliance (e.g. experience in leading assurance reviews).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the professional practice of internal audit including risk-based audit techniques and use of data analytics.
- Excellent analytical skills, including interpreting legislation and regulations.
- Good problem-solving skills, with an ability to be innovative in approach.
- Excellent personal organisational and planning skills, and excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Strong understanding of finance processes and controls, either through working in a finance role, or through significant audit experience in this area.
- Sound understanding of the FCA Handbook/financial products and general awareness of insurance industry and products and previous experience in Financial Services.
- Sound knowledge of risk management and programme assurance.
- Professional qualification or appropriate industry related qualification, such as CA/ACA/ACCA/CIA/CMIIA.
- Good commercial awareness of LV’s business activities in the context of its regulatory and industry landscape, including consideration of competitors, customers/members and advisers. Ability to make commercially appropriate controls improvement recommendations.
- Team player with a strong sense of accountability for audit delivery.
