We have a new and exciting opportunity for a proactive Data Management Specialist to help deliver our Data Strategy, enhance enterprise data management capabilities, and support the implementation of Microsoft Fabric and Purview within a dynamic financial services environment.

Working within the Data Office, you'll help deliver and mature our data governance and data management capabilities, including data quality, data catalogue, metadata, master data, lineage and data stewardship, ensuring trusted, well-governed data that supports business decision-making and regulatory compliance. The role will be for a 12-month FTC and based out of our Bournemouth office with office presence required once a month.

Key Responsibilities
  • Help shape and deliver the Data Management roadmap, establishing and embedding enterprise-wide data governance and data management capabilities.
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Purview and Unified Data Governance, supporting metadata management, data lineage, data cataloguing, and governance best practices.
  • Support the migration and governance of data within Microsoft Fabric, ensuring our sensitive and personal data is effectively safeguarded, secure, trusted, and accessible.
  • Establish and maintain master data management, business glossaries, data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data lineage to improve data visibility and consistency.
  • Drive data quality, classification, retention, and privacy initiatives, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate data risks, implementing controls and supporting governance audits, monitoring, and reporting activities.
  • Partner with Data Owners, Stewards, IT, Compliance, and business stakeholders to improve data management practices and drive accountability across the organisation.
  • Act as a Data Management SME, providing guidance, training, and support to strengthen data literacy and mature stewardship capabilities.
  • Support data migration, remediation, and transformation initiatives, ensuring enterprise data assets remain accurate, complete, and reliable.
  • Contribute to governance forums, design authorities, and strategic data projects, providing expert input on data management capabilities and best practices.
About You
  • Experience in Data Management, Data Governance, or Data Risk Management, ideally within Financial Services or another regulated environment.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality, metadata, lineage, and master data management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Fabric/Azure, or similar data governance platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, SQL and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory requirements such as GDPR.
  • Experience with data migration, remediation, ETL processes, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Desirable DAMA DMBOK, CDMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with financial data models and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Exposure to Python, Power BI, and broader Azure data services.
