Reporting to the Chief Audit Officer, you'll develop the methodology, quality standards, analytics and technology underpinning assurance across one of the UK's largest mutual insurers. You'll lead our Internal Audit Centre of Excellence, setting standards for high-quality, risk-based assurance aligned with LV='s strategy, risk profile and regulatory expectations. Beyond traditional methodology, you'll shape how Internal Audit operates, drive innovation and use data, AI and automation to build a more efficient, forward-looking function. You'll have direct access to the Chief Audit Officer, senior stakeholders and the Board, influencing the function's future direction. You'll also manage one direct report and produce data-led insights and assurance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and improve a modern Internal Audit methodology, standards, tools and guidance.
  • Embed risk-based, insight-led auditing that delivers proportionate, commercially relevant assurance.
  • Translate Global Internal Audit Standards and PRA/FCA expectations into practical frameworks.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme and maintain external assessment readiness.
  • Use audit themes and trends to improve quality, efficiency and impact.
  • Shape clear reporting for the Executive, Board and Audit Committee on Internal Audits, outcomes and value.
  • Maintain effective, compliant audit processes and governance, including CAO SMF5 documentation under SM&CR.
  • Lead the data analytics strategy and advance AI, automation and continuous assurance.
  • Optimise audit technology and systems to improve data, insight and efficiency.
  • Coach colleagues on methodology, quality, standards and emerging audit practices.
  • Embed consistent ways of working and support teams through change.
  • Build trusted relationships with audit leaders, senior stakeholders and Risk & Compliance.

About You

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have Manager or Senior Manager experience in Internal Audit, Risk or External Audit, ideally in regulated financial services.
  • Know audit methodology, risk-based auditing, control frameworks and Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Turn professional standards and regulatory expectations into practical guidance and tools.
  • Bring quality assurance experience, including QAIP and external assessment requirements.
  • Use data and insight to identify themes, improve standards and prioritise key risks.
  • Understand how audit technology, analytics, AI and automation can improve assurance.
  • Communicate clearly, simplify complexity and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Lead change and help teams adopt improved ways of working.
  • Coach others to build capability in modern audit practices.
  • Be motivated to improve and innovate.
