We are a UK life and pensions mutual insurer, protecting the income of our members and customers. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to support the growth of our protection product portfolio and drive commercial performance through business development, market engagement, and relationship management. This role focuses on the North of England and is home-remote with weekly client visits and occasional office visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in‑person visits and Microsoft Teams calls to discuss protection products and guide customers.
  • Develop and implement a business‑development strategy focused on protection products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with financial advisors, brokers, and other distribution partners.
  • Identify new market opportunities and emerging trends in protection and share data with the team.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, compliance, and risk teams to ensure alignment and delivery.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Provide feedback, insights, and MI data on product development and enhancements.
  • Ensure a consistently positive end‑to‑end customer journey for all members and customers.

About You

  • Proven experience in business development within financial services, focusing on protection products (e.g., income protection, critical illness).
  • Strong understanding of the UK protection market and distribution channels.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a results‑driven mindset.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Have or are willing to obtain R01 and R05 exams within the first 12 months in the role.
