Client's application support is responsible for the production systems, including Trading, Post-Trade, and PnL software, environment management, and software deployment. Will work closely with developers, business analysts and infrastructure team members as well as with portfolio managers and traders. The candidate will participate in the release process, ensuring quality software is delivered in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Working as part of a Global team (‘follow the sun’ model), to manage trading and risk platform readiness: pre-trading through to post-trade and reconciliation systems.
- Monitor and support end to end transaction flow across the trading platform.
- Quickly identify, analyze, and correct alerts & issues and/or elevate to minimize trade flow impact and preempt outages.
- Incident management: communicate incidents and outages to key business stakeholders and portfolio managers. Create PM reports following established procedures, to identify and track tasks to mitigate future occurrence.
- Problem tracking – identify and steer problematic issues through to resolution.
- Effectively and regularly communicate with Investment management, Portfolio managers, Operations, Development, Compliance and Infrastructure teams.
- Support scheduled changes working with Dev teams.
- Oversee automated processes, scheduled, alerting and regular reporting.
- Manage users’ requests / queries: track requests, review approvals, updates, resolution through to closure, etc.
- Identify inefficiencies such as repetitive activities, manual processes and suboptimal tools/workflows to drive continuous improvements via automation and collaboration with internal development teams.
Skills – Must Have
- At least 5+ years of application support experience.
- Comfortable with Client/server architecture, Linux OS, AWS and a good working knowledge of Kafka messaging / docker containerization.
- Proficiency with Bash; a scripting language such as Python or Perl would be beneficial.
- Detailed practical knowledge of FIX protocol.
- Experience using relational Databases (eg MySQL, MS SQL).
- Good knowledge of trade flow, asset classes and trade life cycle.
- Understand fundamental concepts with regard to PnL calculation, understanding key data inputs that affect risk views would be beneficial but not required.
- Highly organized, detailed, control oriented, enjoys solving problems and brings in a "take charge" attitude.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills required to support daily interaction with brokers, exchanges, senior management and portfolio managers.
- Ability to articulate complex issues into a high-level summary for senior management.
- Self-motivated individual that takes initiatives and has an ownership & accountability mindset.
- Must show the ability to make quick decisions and establish priorities in a multi-tasking environment.
- Experience with the Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence, Service Desk) would be useful.
Nice to Have
- Scripting - Python/JS/etc.
- Knowledge of databases and associated structures.
- Experience with the use of MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Knowledge of Fix Messaging protocol and setting up FIX connections.
- Front office Applications (Bloomberg, TradeWeb, MarketAxess) – trader support will be a good benefit.
- Experience in supporting order flow management between the trading desk and brokers.
- Experience with Javascript will be a huge advantage.
- Java application support background.
- Experience with Cloud (AWS) platform.
- Experience in building out Geneos monitoring including backend scripting and implement customizable alerting for bespoke / custom alerts.
