Project Description: Product verification & testing for an L1-L3 Traffic Generator Solution for a Global Networking Testing and Validation equipment provider.

Our team: A team of networking enthusiasts willing to contribute to customer success.

Technologies used: Networking protocols, traffic generation tools, Windows/Linux servers, network virtualization, network management tools, microservices.

Opportunities: Networking and testing certifications, collaboration with an international team of professionals, working with the latest networking technologies and concepts, access to trainings.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute manual, exploratory and automated test cases for Ethernet network equipment at the physical L1 and data link L2 layer of the OSI stack.
  • Design and execute ethernet physical layer test cases covering MAC/PCS/FEC state, link negotiation, BER counters, port state transitions, transceiver operation and error counters.
  • Validate alarm handling, fault isolation, and event monitoring capabilities of the product against real world telecom network scenarios (including outage impact analysis and incident management workflows).
  • Perform acceptance and commissioning-style testing for L0/L1 features, reproducing complex lab scenario.
  • Analyze QoS and performance metrics at the transport/packet domain level; validate the product's ability to measure and report on delay, jitter, packet loss, and load-balancing across L0/L1 links.
  • Validate Network Management System (NMS) integration and interoperability scenarios with multivendor optical and transport equipment.
  • Reproduce and root-cause hardware and firmware defects through systematic test isolation at the PHY level.
  • Analyze test failures, capture logs, and document defects with clear reproduction steps in the issuetracker.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and software development teams to triage failures and drive quality improvement.
  • Derive test requirements from hardware validation reports and functional test specification.
  • Support traffic generator setup and execution (Spirent, Ixia) for link-level and stress testing.
  • Contribute to CI/CD test integration for automated regression coverage of physical-layer test suites.

Must have:

  • Strong practical experience in working with networking domain related applications, 5+ years (debugging, troubleshooting, integration).
  • Solid understanding of wired telecom physical layer transmission technologies: SDH, PDH, DWDM, Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet, VLANs, and Fiber Optics — ideally gained from hands‑on work in a Telco operator or transmission engineering environment.
  • Experience with E2E transport service testing: circuit provisioning/validation, acceptance testing, and fault isolation across multivendor environments including alarm handling and outage impact analysis.
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing QoS/KPI indicators for transport and packet domains (latency, jitter, availability, SLA compliance).
  • QA experience in an Agile/SCRUM team with both manual and automated testing; experience in performance, scale, and convergence testing at system level.
  • Ability to develop and publish solution validation documents and test reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively across QA and Development teams.
  • Highly motivated, self‑driven, and able to collaborate cross‑functionally to meet challenging goals.

  • CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab, or similar) and issue tracking tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Experience with transmission Network Management Systems (NMS), e.g., Huawei iManager, Alcatel‑Lucent Photonic Manager, or equivalent.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of optical and transport equipment or equivalent multivendor transmission hardware.
  • OTDR testing and fiber optic measurement experience.
  • Certification or formal training in transmission technologies: SDH, DWDM, CCNA, or equivalent.
