This role is responsible for the reliable operation and maintenance of critical site utilities within a busy industrial manufacturing environment. You will lead the facilities team and take ownership of the boiler house, utilities infrastructure and building services that support production operations across the site. This position requires a hands-on facilities leader with strong industrial utilities experience, capable of managing both day-to-day operational reliability and long-term improvement projects related to energy efficiency, plant upgrades and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure reliable supply of critical utilities including steam, compressed air, gas, electricity and water to production operations.
- Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of industrial steam boilers, water treatment systems and site distribution networks.
- Lead and develop the facilities engineering team and apprentices.
- Manage site HVAC systems, electrical distribution infrastructure, fire systems and security systems.
- Drive energy efficiency initiatives and cost reduction projects across site utilities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations relating to pressure systems, lifting equipment, building services and utilities infrastructure.
- Manage contractor services, maintenance contracts and supplier performance.
- Conduct inspections of plant, utilities infrastructure and buildings to identify maintenance and improvement requirements.
- Support development and delivery of the site CAPEX programme for facilities and infrastructure upgrades.
- Work closely with operations, engineering, procurement and HSE teams to support manufacturing performance.
- Develop and maintain emergency response procedures for critical utilities systems.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing facilities or utilities within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial utilities systems including:
- Steam / boiler house operations
- Compressed air systems
- Water treatment and distribution
- Electrical distribution infrastructure
- Experience managing engineering or facilities maintenance teams.
- Understanding of statutory compliance relating to:
- Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
- Lifting equipment / LOLER
- Building services compliance
- Experience managing contractors and service providers.
- Ability to manage reactive maintenance, reliability improvements and infrastructure projects.
