Start Your Career in Engineering with Luxfer on one of our engineering apprenticeships. We are looking for between 2 and 4 motivated and hands-on individuals, that have a passion for Engineering to join our team at our Manchester site. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin a long-term career in engineering, gaining real workplace experience while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an apprentice, your aim will be to learn and apply engineering skills to become fully competent to maintain a variety of equipment at our Swinton site. You will be working with and learning a variety of engineering skills including electrical, mechanical, control and instrumentation. You will gain hands-on operational experience by assisting the Maintenance Team in the following:

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and routine scheduling servicing in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations
  • Deal with machine breakdowns and effect repairs to ensure minimum downtime
  • Troubleshoot and fault-find any defects on machines and carry out repairs as necessary
  • Sourcing required parts in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Updating and maintaining accurate information on the company’s CMMS
  • Work in a safe manner at all times supporting the company’s Environmental, H&S procedures
  • Maintain clean and safe work practices in accordance with 5S protocol.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts within the Organisation

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who:

  • Will be at least 18 years old on the 1st Sept 2026
  • Have a passion for Engineering
  • Have at least 5 GCSE results at grade 4/C, including Maths, English & Science (or equivalent qualification), and have ideally continued their studies to A-Level/Level 3 in Maths, Science or Engineering subject
  • Committed to working safely and following procedures
  • Good team players with strong communication skills
  • Willing to learn and develop new skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and organised
  • Able to problem-solve and pay attention to detail

Training & Development

You will have the opportunity to earn both a NVQ Level 3 and a BTEC in Engineering: Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician qualification. You’ll be supported with full training as you complete the required academic and practical training requirements of the apprenticeship, to become fully competent in carrying out multi-skilled engineering tasks and achieve two recognised qualifications in electrical and mechanical techniques.
