What You’ll Be Doing

  • Performing routine analytical testing using both traditional techniques and advanced instruments (e.g. XRF, XRD, ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, and more)
  • Testing raw materials, in-process samples, and final products
  • Maintaining high standards in laboratory conditions, equipment calibration, and documentation
  • Following all safety and environmental procedures
  • Getting involved in continuous improvement initiatives like Lean, 5S and method development
  • Organising your own workload and working to agreed priorities
  • Supporting the team to meet key performance indicators and company goals

Who We’re Looking For

Education / Entry Requirements

  • At least 5 good GCSEs including a minimum Grade 4/C in Maths, English and Science
  • Minimum 112 UCAS points, with:
  • A-level: A in Chemistry and C in Maths, or BTEC: Distinction in Chemistry-related subject and Merit in Maths
  • Must meet MMU entry requirements for the Laboratory Science Degree Apprenticeship

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in lab work and data entry
  • Excellent practical skills—comfortable with pipetting, weighing, and lab processes
  • Solid mathematical ability, including algebra and calculations
