The Role

The LV Switch Panel Wireman will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring and testing of low-voltage distribution boards and MCCB panel boards. The role is central to ensuring products are completed accurately, safely and to the required technical standards.

  • Build and test distribution boards and MCCB panels in line with technical drawings, specifications and BS EN 61439 requirements
  • Read and interpret electrical CAD drawings, wiring diagrams and layout information
  • Check component quantities and quality before starting each build
  • Assemble wiring loom kits using a range of cable crimp hand tools
  • Carry out electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance and functional checks
  • Identify and rectify wiring or assembly faults through effective fault-finding
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing records, including test certification, diagrams, drawings and production sheets
  • Work safely and support compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Work independently with limited supervision while collaborating with colleagues and other departments

About You

  • Previous strong experience in a low-voltage panel building environment
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, components and panel construction
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
  • Ability to read and work from technical electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools and electrical test equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical regulations, including 18th Edition

  • Location: Braintree, Essex (workshop based role)
  • Salary: £27,000 p/a
