The Role

  • The LV Switch Panel Wireman will be responsible for the mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring and testing of low-voltage distribution boards and MCCB panel boards.
  • Build and test distribution boards and MCCB panels in line with technical drawings, specifications and BS EN 61439 requirements.
  • Read and interpret electrical CAD drawings, wiring diagrams and layout information.
  • Check component quantities and quality before starting each build.
  • Assemble wiring loom kits using a range of cable crimp hand tools.
  • Carry out electrical testing, including continuity, insulation resistance and functional checks.
  • Identify and rectify wiring or assembly faults through effective fault-finding.
  • Maintain accurate manufacturing records, including test certification, diagrams, drawings and production sheets.
  • Work safely and support compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Work independently with limited supervision while collaborating with colleagues and other departments.

About You

  • Previous strong experience in a low-voltage panel building environment.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, components and panel construction.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and work from technical electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools and electrical test equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical regulations, including 18th Edition.

Salary & Working Hours

  • 39 hours per week, full-time.
  • Monday to Thursday: 07:25 to 16:30 (with lunch from 12:15 to 13:00).
  • Friday: 07:30 to 13:10 (no lunch break).
  • Location: Braintree, Essex (workshop based role).
  • Salary: £27,000 p/a.
