About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented VFX Technical Compositor to support the technical quality and delivery of VFX shots across film, television, and immersive projects. Working closely with Compositors, Leads, Supervisors, Production, and Pipeline teams, the role focuses on technical QC, troubleshooting, workflow optimisation, and ensuring all shots meet studio and client delivery standards. Due to the nature of the work this role is based full-time in our Bristol Studio, and applications to work remotely will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical QC on VFX shots.
  • Verify frame ranges, naming conventions, versioning, file integrity, and delivery specifications.
  • Check image quality for render artefacts, flicker, matte issues, colour inconsistencies, and other technical defects.
  • Validate colour management, formats, resolutions, bit depths, and AOVs against project requirements.
  • Confirm editorial conformity, frame counts, handles, and version accuracy.
  • Support artists with troubleshooting compositing, rendering, and pipeline-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate QC notes and communicate issues clearly to artists and production teams.
  • Assist in developing and improving automated QC processes and technical workflows.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance across all shot submissions and final deliveries.
  • Perform technical compositing tasks, fixes, and clean-up work when required, or work on a variety of compositing shots depending on workload.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with Nuke and VFX compositing workflows.
  • Solid understanding of colour management, EXR workflows, render passes, and delivery standards.
  • Experience performing technical QC and shot validation in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with production tracking tools such as ShotGrid (Flow Production Tracking).
  • Strong troubleshooting, organisational, and communication skills.
