We are seeking an experienced Senior SRE/DevOps Engineer to play a key role in our cloud migration initiative from AWS to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for our high-traffic social media application. You will be responsible for driving the design, implementation, and operational excellence of our new GCP environment, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. This role requires a proactive individual who excels at bridging the gap between development and operations while ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability during and after the migration.
Key Responsibilities:- Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Architect, design, and implement robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure on GCP using Terraform.
- Platform Reliability & Automation: Enhance system reliability and uptime through automation, monitoring, and proactive incident response. Develop CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Container & Orchestration Management: Manage container orchestration using Kubernetes (GKE) and deploy containerized applications with a focus on performance, scalability, and security.
- Collaboration & Best Practices: Work closely with development, security, and product teams to ensure seamless integration, adherence to best practices, and successful migration execution.
- Monitoring, Logging, & Performance Tuning: Implement and optimize monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (using GCP’s Operations Suite) to proactively address issues and fine-tune system performance.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure the infrastructure complies with relevant security standards and policies, implementing practices like VPC configuration, IAM best practices, and Cloud Armor for protection.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud operations.
- Cloud Expertise: Deep expertise in AWS services and hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services (Cloud SQL, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud CDN, etc.).
- Containerization & Orchestration: Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes (preferably GKE). Experience managing containerized workloads in production.
- Infrastructure-as-Code: Strong experience with Terraform.
- CI/CD and Automation: Proven skills in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automating operational processes.
- Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in languages such as Python, Bash, or Go for automation, scripting, and tool development.
- Monitoring & Incident Response: Experience with monitoring and logging tools and a solid background in incident management and root cause analysis.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to mentor and lead cross-functional teams.
