The HSE Advisor is responsible for maintaining Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance across the UK and Europe in alignment with Lutron corporate standards. The incumbent is also accountable for the continued improvement of the management systems that support these objectives and the positive, proactive safety culture that should grow from those systems. This position is based in London with predominant focus on Lutron’s UK operations, which include a manufacturing plant, offices, and an Experience Center in London and a manufacturing plant and office in Dunstable. Additionally, this role will provide HSE support for our European teams and our offices in Paris and Barcelona.
Responsibilities
- Identify operational and regulatory HSE risks, recommend solutions, and implement actions to ensure any breaches are addressed.
- Support and facilitate accident and incident investigations and provide advice on preventive measures to reduce risk.
- Responsible for the delivery of company HSE inductions, training, and skills development, including as required for on-site and field staff.
- Conduct and report on periodic site inspections and self-audits.
- Oversee risk management program, including: General Risk Assessment, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Assessment, and Fire Risk Assessment.
- Manage a program of corrective/preventive actions to ensure the highest standards in safe working practices are met.
- Provide clear and concise information through reports of Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), incident trends and other key data, to enable management to make effective decisions.
- Support external HSE and related audits and regulatory visits.
- Coordinate with external vendors for maintenance, repairs, cleaning, security, and other facility services, ensuring quality and timely completion of work.
- Monitor critical systems (power, HVAC, water, fire safety) and elevate any risk to operations to plant managers and leadership.
- Communicate daily with plant managers on key issues, planned shutdowns, and any facility risks impacting production.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, including under time constraints.
- Strong leadership instincts and skills, with the ability to positively influence individuals and groups without specific authority.
- An effective communicator, with the ability to establish trust across a diverse group of colleagues.
- Demonstrative passion for safety, as it relates to individuals and organisations.
- NEBOSH (National examination Board in occupational safety and health) General Certificate as a minimum.
- Academic Degree in Engineering, Business, or HSE management is required.
- Fluent English is essential, proficiency in Spanish or French is a plus.
- Extensive relevant experience working in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the region and the ability to translate them into actionable processes and programs.
