We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Matchday Stewards to join our team during our 2026/27 season. Luton Town Football Club is a vibrant and inclusive venue, welcoming thousands of supporters each matchday. We pride ourselves on delivering a safe, friendly, and unforgettable experience for all visitors. The purpose of the role is to ensure the safety, security and enjoyment of all spectators and staff during our events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide excellent customer service and assist spectators’ queries.
- Monitor crowds and ensure public safety throughout the venue.
- Conduct ticket and bag checks at entry points.
- Guide visitors to their seats and direct them around the stadium.
- Respond to incidents quickly and professionally, escalating where necessary.
- Uphold stadium ground regulations at all times.
- Attend pre-event briefing, and ensure all information is understood.
- Attend all training sessions required.
- Monitor the crowd within your designated areas for signs of overcrowding or distress.
- Ensure all exits and evacuation routes are kept clear at all times.
- Recognise any potential hazards/suspect packages, report findings immediately to stand supervisor.
- Remain at deployed areas unless instructed to leave by an authorised person such as Supervisor, Head Steward, Safety Officer.
- Report any damages or defects which could pose a threat to spectator safety to the area supervisor.
- Remain calm under pressure.
- Assist fully in the evacuation of the ground.
- Be available to work a minimum of 75% of fixtures including both mid-week evenings and weekend fixtures throughout the season.
Health & Safety Casual Worker requirements:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety guidance and processes within your role and in line with the Club’s Health & Safety Policy.
- Consider the Health & Safety implications of all actions and inaction within your role.
- Support and uphold agreed standards for Health & Safety compliance, including assisting in accident, dangerous occurrence and near miss investigations within your role.
- Follow and adhere to safe management systems and working practices in line with the Club’s Health & Safety Policy.
- Ensure you have been briefed and are confident in using any equipment prior to use and seek guidance from your supervisor as required.
- Regularly review risk assessments, safe working, and management systems associated with your role.
- Liaise regularly with the Club’s appointed Health & Safety representatives to support and maintain compliance.
- Maintain records of all Health & Safety issues within your role and area of responsibility.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essentials
- Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Can follow instructions and stewards expectations of the role and standards outlined in the Matchday Steward Handbook.
- SIA Licence.
Desirable
- Level 2 NVQ Spectator Safety.
Specific Experience
- Experience of working within a similar role previously.
- Experience of working within a customer‑facing role.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge
- Friendly, approachable with a professional attitude.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work and remain calm under pressure.
- Punctual, reliable and flexible with working hours covering evening and weekend shifts.
