As a First Team Post-Match Performance Analyst at Luton Town, you will play a crucial role within the Analysis department, leading the process of post‑match analysis, using video and data to drive the review process after each fixture. Focusing on post‑match analysis, this includes the production of a team review meeting, a post‑match data report and any analysis that enhances the feedback process to the first team players, enabling the team to maximise performance throughout the season.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand the key principles and playing style of the club/coaching team – conduct thorough post‑match analysis, identifying key trends in our structure, playing style and overall performance, providing video, documentation and key insights to the coaching/management team whenever required.
- Support the pre‑match process in helping annotate video where required – work together with other members of the department to ensure weekly documentation is readily available to the coaching team.
- Travel with the First Team to home and away fixtures, providing real‑time analysis during matches, offering valuable insights in fast‑paced, pressurised environments.
- Develop and maintain authentic and effective working relationships throughout the club.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the first team and academy squads.
- Produce specific analysis projects as and when required by the Manager and coaching team, to support research and development within the Football department.
- Represent the club, always model the club’s values and valued behaviours.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
- Minimum of 2 years’ full‑time experience in a performance analysis role within a professional football club.
- Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in a sports related discipline (e.g. Sports Coaching / Sports Science) or equivalent experience.
- Excellent football knowledge, with a strong tactical understanding of different playing styles.
- Proficiency in using a variety of video analysis softwares and other relevant tools (Hudl SportsCode, Hudl Studio, Hudl StatsBomb, SBG Matchtracker, SBG Focus etc).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey analysis and recommendations to the coaching staff and players.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Passion for football and a genuine interest in continuous learning and improvement.
- Creative in methods of presentation.
- Ability to highlight key messages.
- A clear understanding of the day‑to‑day Football environment.
