JOB PURPOSE
Oversee and organise the preparation, cooking, and delivery of food.
Assist the kitchen team with menu creation, recipes, and development of dishes, ensuring variety and quality.
Assist with kitchen stock and waste management, keep the cooking station stocked and ready for service.
Manage food and product ordering.
Coordinate daily tasks with the Head Chef and/or Sous Chef.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure daily food preparation and duties assigned by superiors to meet the standards and quality set by the Club.
- Ensure the consistent and smooth running of food production, monitoring the quality and quantity of food prepared.
- Assist the Head Chef/Sous Chef with food purchases/orders, food wastage, portion control, stock rotation, and levels to achieve food budget cost controls.
- Lead by example, promote good team morale, and ensure the kitchen staff work harmoniously to produce timely, quality foods.
- Encourage and promote high levels of service to exceed expectations.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to specifications and served at the correct quality, portion size, and temperature.
- Work with front and back of house to develop clear communication and an inclusive culture among all catering staff.
- Operate and maintain all department equipment, reporting malfunctions.
- Have full knowledge of all menu items, recipes, methods of production, and presentation standards.
- Periodically check expiry dates and proper storage of food items.
- Assist in ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations, including sanitary and food safety guidelines, maintaining hygiene, cleanliness, and health & safety standards.
- Ensure kitchens are clean and secure at the end of each shift, with all food properly stored and labelled, and \’Closing Down Check Lists\’ completed.
- Assist in preparing kitchen cleaning rosters and supervising cleaning schedules.
- Implement environmental, health, and safety legislation and HACCP systems, including knowledge of new legislation such as allergy legislation.
- Report maintenance, accidents, health & safety, and hygiene issues to the Head Chef/Sous Chef.
Variations related to Matches and Events:
- Attend all home matchdays.
- Be available for functions or events outside of matchdays.

MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications/Training:
- A degree in culinary science or related certification and experience (college or apprenticeship standard)
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene (FSA)
Specific Experience:
- Minimum of two years proven experience as a Chef in a similar environment.
- Experience managing staff.
- Ability to transform ideas into deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility in working hours.
