You will help students develop their skills and make the best possible use of their potential in accordance with college policies. This will include:

  • Provide effective in-class and out-of-class support for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, ensuring support contributes positively to engagement, attendance, retention, academic achievement and progression.
  • Implement, monitor and adapt support and intervention strategies to meet students' identified needs, leading to measurable progress, increased independence and improved engagement in learning.
  • Liaise proactively with Subject Teachers and Attendance & Progress Coaches to implement support strategies, monitor impact and address barriers affecting attendance, engagement, retention, achievement and progression.
  • Identify when additional support may be required and signpost students to appropriate internal services, including Careers, Wellbeing, Welfare and Safeguarding, to support successful participation, retention and progression.
    Experience of supporting students with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or additional learning needs to access learning and achieve positive educational outcomes.
  • Experience of implementing support strategies and interventions that promote student engagement, attendance, independence, achievement and progression.
  • Ability to motivate, encourage and challenge students appropriately to maximise engagement, attendance, achievement and independence.
  • Ability to identify barriers to learning and implement practical strategies that improve outcomes for students.
  • Sixth Form College's Support Staff Pay Spine point 32, Β£20.38 per hour, including an element for holiday and bank holiday pay. Working between 7.5 hours and 37 hours per week Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 5:10pm for 39 weeks per year, term time only. Hours will be agreed in consultation with the successful applicant. Hours cannot be guaranteed as they can vary according to College requirements and student needs. A degree of flexibility is required.
