Salary: £41,511 – £44,711 a year plus £963 essential car user allowance

Our department is looking for someone who can undertake accountancy duties and provide professional advice and support to Governors, Head teachers, Business Managers, and Bursars at schools with delegated budgets, in accordance with the Local Management of Schools Scheme.

You will be required to offer high-quality financial management advice and practical support, proactively identifying innovative and pragmatic solutions to meet the needs of schools while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and statutory requirements.

About You

We seek a candidate with strong communication skills, capable of building key relationships and providing clear, effective professional guidance and consultative financial advice on complex issues at a senior level, including to non-accountants, with assertiveness.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills by working independently, with minimal management oversight, as well as part of a team, and be adaptable to changing service demands.

It is essential that you possess an AAT qualification, Level 4 in accounting, or an equivalent qualification or experience, with in-depth knowledge of accountancy principles and practices.

Applicants must be able to visit establishments and attend meetings across the Borough regularly, and have accurate numerical reasoning skills with a pragmatic approach.

This is a public-facing role requiring fluency in spoken and written English.

Application Process

This role requires a criminal record disclosure, as it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants must declare all unspent cautions and convictions, including adult cautions and spent convictions not protected under the 2020 amendments. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify an applicant, but failure to disclose relevant information may lead to dismissal or disciplinary action.
