In this role, you’ll work directly with families, offering support, guidance and practical interventions to help keep children safe and promote their wellbeing. You’ll be part of a wider multi-agency network, working closely with colleagues from social care, education, health and other partner organisations to deliver joined-up support. You’ll be involved in assessing needs alongside families, contributing to plans that are clear, realistic and focused on positive outcomes for children. Your work will include supporting families where there are child protection concerns, always keeping the child’s safety and welfare at the centre of everything you do. You’ll manage your own workload, use your initiative, and contribute to decision-making with guidance from more senior colleagues when required.

You’ll bring experience of working with children and families in a social care, education or health setting, along with some exposure to child protection work. You’re confident working in partnership, whether that’s alongside other professionals or directly with mothers, fathers, carers, children and young people. You understand how important trust, communication and collaboration are when agreeing and carrying out plans with families. You’re able to assess needs thoughtfully, taking into account the impact of deprivation, abuse and wider life circumstances on children’s development and wellbeing. Writing clear reports and plans comes naturally to you, and you’re organised enough to manage competing priorities while still responding to families with care and professionalism. This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.
