Job No. MC1422. Permanent position. Location: Gloucester. Salary: up to £50,000 DOE + Contributory Pension + 25 Days Holiday + Group Life Assurance (5x Salary) + Income Protection + Training and Development + Private Medical Insurance. Working pattern: 9/10 day working per fortnight – average 37 hour working week (Flexible start / finish times).

Mechanical Design Engineer required for an industry leading supplier of manufacturing machinery with a reputation of global excellence. This is a great opportunity to join a company with a worldwide presence who are truly committed to developing their staff. Within this role, you will be based at a brand-new, purpose-built facility. This role would suit an experienced mechanical design engineer with experience designing machinery; candidates from any industry background are encouraged to apply. Working within a small team, the Mechanical Design Engineer will support the 3D design of both standard and special purpose machinery using SolidWorks. You will be involved in the design of tooling and coordinate with engineers of other disciplines (electrical, software etc.) to produce design solutions to meet user requirements.
The Mechanical Design Engineer Role: Responsibilities
- Design of standard and special purpose machinery, including lead plate feeders and stackers, lead casting machines, robot loading and machining cells etc.
- Use SolidWorks to create 3D models and carry out prototyping and verification testing
- Strive to reduce costs
- Ensure documentation including manuals and schedules are updated
- Hands on involvement in testing
