Our client, a well-established InsurTech, is on a mission to make financial decision-making simple, accessible, and effective for everyone. They are seeking a Senior Manager in Risk to lead their Risk team, provide strategic oversight, and ensure the business achieves its ambitions safely and at pace.
Role Purpose: The Senior Manager will lead the Risk function to ensure the company operates within a robust risk and control framework, provide proactive Second Line of Defence (SLOD) oversight, and deliver actionable insights and challenge to support decision-making across operations, change initiatives, and strategic plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and key stakeholders across the business.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Risk team, providing tailored and insightful guidance.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust risk frameworks, processes, and reporting to embed a strong risk culture.
- Produce actionable insights for the first line of defence, including risk assessments, evolving risk profiles, and external intelligence.
- Monitor technological, data, and AI developments, assessing associated risks and implications.
- Stay informed of external trends and developments to identify potential risks affecting the organisation or sector.
- Provide considered and constructive input on strategic decisions, initiatives, and operational delivery.
- Present comprehensive risk updates to executive leadership and board committees on a quarterly basis.
- Escalate emerging risks promptly to ensure timely mitigation.
- Represent the Head of Risk at meetings, committees, and forums when required.
Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise in establishing, implementing, and embedding robust risk frameworks and governance processes.
- Significant background in Second Line of Defence risk functions, preferably within financial services.
- Proven track record in leading, motivating, and managing high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of complex organisational structures and operational models.
- Strong analytical and evidence-driven approach to identifying and solving problems.
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels.
- Naturally curious and adaptable, with a proactive approach to monitoring emerging risks and sector developments.
