Job Overview: The Senior Manager Project Engineering is tasked with the development of departmental plans, including business, production, and/or organizational priorities. The role requires multi-disciplinary expertise and the ability to understand the industry to achieve financial and operational objectives. The Senior Manager Project Engineering manages multiple related teams, sets their organizational priorities, and allocates the appropriate resources. They must be able to identify and resolve a range of complex technical, operational, and organizational problems. The role directly impacts business results by supporting function-specific projects, products, services, and/or technologies, and developing policies and plans.
Responsibilities Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage the engineering scope of a project
- Establish and implement project procedures to ensure deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements through contract documents
- Manage the technical execution to support the business considerations established for the project
- Responsible for the administration and technical management of the department
- Assign staffing for the Project Engineering positions on projects and proposals
- Instill and promote “Safety as a Value” culture
- Establish a budget and salary plan for the department
- Identify and recruit staff for Project Engineering positions
- Maintain staffing levels appropriate to the projected workload
- Provide leadership and training for the professional development of staff
- Identify and correct performance gaps
- Maintain Company processes and procedures related to Project Execution
- Allocate resources to provide quality, on time and cost-effective deliverables for projects and proposals
- Responsible for the integrity of the work produced
- Responsible for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control
- Ensure work is being coordinated with the other departments, offices, fabrication, and construction to meet project requirements
- Ensure proactive and effective management of change
- Monitor project performance and provide input and support as required
- Participate in monthly Project Reviews
- Execute Project Engineering Assessment (PEA) for Project Engineering
- Support the Lessons Learned process and continuous improvement initiatives of the company
- Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Liaise with: Project Engineer, PEM, PM, Discipline Lead Engineers, Eng Dept Managers, Construction/Fabrication team, Project Controls, Finance, Proposals
Supervises: Project Engineering Team, Manager of Project Engineering
Qualifications Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Advanced degree from an accredited university in an engineering discipline
- 20+ years of experience and proven leadership experience in Project Engineering and/or Engineering Management experience
- Preferably Registered Engineer or member of professional engineering society as applicable
- Demonstrate a broad technical knowledge of detailed design engineering codes and standards
- Familiar with detailed engineering and design work procedures and processes
- Able to read and understand contractual documentation
- Able to effectively communicate with and lead engineers and non-engineers
- Field assignment experience
- Experience in International Projects
- Experience with multi-office (MOPEX) execution
- Experience in execution as part of a Joint Venture or Consortium Group
- Experience developing proposals and contractual documentation
- Experience acting in a PMT role for projects
- Experience in revamping (Brownfield) and grassroots (Greenfield) projects
