Client Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Project Manager to join our team in Swindon. The successful candidate will be based between client sites and our offices at Harwell & Swindon, helping us deliver projects from existing long term framework agreements and from a wider client base in the area. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading on complex design and build projects for controlled environments that require strong commercial awareness and a focus on exceptional project delivery in a client-friendly manner. Candidates must possess proven project management skills, experience of NEC & JCT contracts and a detailed understanding of HVAC systems to be considered for these roles. The successful candidate will support the local Director to continue with the growth of the company and work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to deliver turnkey design and build solutions to world-leading end user clients.

Role Overview

As a Senior Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Business Development: Utilising existing key customer relationships to develop opportunities for the business and maintain long term relationships. Develop new networks to help establish repeatable, profitable accounts. Use local contacts to engage with local and national institutes to raise the profile of the company offering amongst key influencers and end users. Involvement in delivering project proposals to senior client representatives.
  • Technical Delivery: Establishing the project technical requirements. Experience in pre-construction in addition to on-site project delivery. Drive the design process with the design team through to a completed, fully integrated solution. Manage the construction team to deliver safely, on time and budget. Be the key point of contact for the client on all issues.
  • Commercial Responsibilities: Leading the commercial aspects of our commitment to a particular client from initial design fees through to the overall capital cost of a project.
  • Project Delivery: Lead the successful delivery of projects with the support of construction colleagues. Demonstrate ability to autonomously and effectively manage project risks, whilst keeping key parties informed of critical aspects/issues.
  • Leadership: Provide leadership on projects to support the local Director and Project Director for allocated projects. From time to time there may be a requirement to support other non-regional projects within the wider Group. Inspire project team. Mentor project engineers and site managers.

Requirements

  • A demonstrable track record of delivering complex design & build projects as a proven Project/Contracts Manager.
  • Relevant sector experience in a contracting business, with a good understanding of the key market drivers and potential issues, which may affect the business and its customers.
  • Commercially astute with regard to initial contractual discussions with end user clients & suppliers.
  • Exceptional project programme and scheduling skills.
  • Individual who operates with integrity, a strong work ethic and takes ownership of all aspects of their project. Hands-on operational role.
  • Flexible approach to project size to successfully deliver critical small & large projects.
  • Receptive to new ideas and always looking for continuous improvement.
  • Adopt the company ethos of a user-friendly, reliable & professional partner to our clients.
  • Higher education certificate (BEng advantageous) in Construction Management, Project Management or Relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Qualifications preferred (MCIOB, CEng or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving license.
