We are looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join the Group Finance Team within HFD Group, supporting a growing and diverse portfolio of businesses including DataVita, one of the UK's most innovative data centre operators.

This is a permanent opportunity to join a dynamic and evolving business at an exciting time and the Financial Accountant is a significant role within the Glasgow Finance team. Through internal promotion, this new opportunity is suited for a recently Qualified Accountant with strong technical and analytical skills with a genuine desire to add value across Financial Accounting, supporting business decisions. The Financial Accountant will be based in Strathclyde business park with flexibility to travel to HFD's City Centre offices. The salary on offer is £45,000 - £53,000 depending on experience with 33 days holiday, company pension, private health care and parking on-site.

This is a hands-on role, value-adding role that goes beyond compliance. You will play a key part in statutory reporting, group consolidations, tax, and balance sheet control, while also helping to modernise processes, improve reporting, and support senior decision-making across the Group.

Key responsibilities
  • Statutory reporting & group accounting
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts using CCH software
  • Responsibility for group consolidations, disclosures and intercompany analysis
  • Working closely with group companies to ensure intercompany balances are reconciled periodically and at year-end
  • Ownership of the year-end close process, ensuring accuracy, control and timeliness
  • Tax & compliance
  • Corporation tax management, reporting and planning, with a view to bringing the process in-house
  • Ensuring tax compliance across the Group, including VAT, CIS, PSA and P11D returns
  • Liaising with external auditors and advisors, providing accurate and timely information
  • Financial control & reporting
  • Responsibility for the accuracy, control and reconciliation of the balance sheet
  • Supporting month-end close and assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Working with department heads to understand and interpret financial performance
  • Supporting accurate coding of revenue, costs and assets
  • Cashflow & projects
  • Cashflow planning and analysis
  • Supporting the HoF and FBP in improving management reporting and financial controls
  • Involvement in ad-hoc group projects, including group structure rationalisation, system integrations and process improvements
  • Supporting the upcoming integration of a new systems.
About youSkills & experience
  • CA or ACCA qualified
  • Strong Excel skills; experience building or working with financial models is an advantage
  • Experience with CCH Accounts, CaseWare and Sage Intacct (or similar systems)
  • Working knowledge of corporation tax, VAT and CIS
  • Around 5 years' accounting experience preferred
