Lusona Consultancy is exclusively partnered with our client in the professional services sector as they recruit for an Assistant Accountant in their Glasgow office. Our client is a £5 million turnover start-up organisation with over 6 years of experience in the marketing and communications sector. As part of their continued success, our client is looking to appoint an Assistant Accountant reporting to the Financial Controller on a permanent basis with a salary between £35,000 - £40,000 per annum. Our client offers 33 days holiday entitlement, access to the company pension scheme, 35-hour working weeks, and the opportunity to shape a rapidly scaling business.

The Assistant Accountant will keep end-to-end financial records accurate, up to date, and useful — helping the business make better decisions and deliver a smoother service to customers. You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the month-end close process, including posting accruals, prepayments, and revenue journals.
- Supporting with the preparation of monthly management accounts (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
Key Tasks:
- Processing supplier invoices, customer receipts, and payments, maintaining accurate and well-organised financial records.
- Managing bank reconciliations and weekly banking activities.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Managing employee expense claims and supporting payroll inputs.
- Monitoring cash flow and flagging issues or discrepancies to the Finance Controller.
- Verifying the accuracy of accounts and supporting regular reconciliations.
Month-End & Management Accounts:
- Assisting with the month-end close process, including posting accruals, prepayments, and revenue journals.
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow).
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances.
- Helping prepare management reporting packs for leadership and stakeholders.
This is a hands-on role working with operational managers and non-financial stakeholders across the business. You will also help improve finance processes, controls, and reporting as the business scales. This is an exciting opportunity with a progressive organisation where you can utilise experience in a fast-paced commercial environment.
This role would suit an experienced accounts professional looking to progress their experience into management accounting whilst adding value across the end-to-end finance function deliverables. The salary on offer is between £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience.
