Solicitor or Associate – Public Law & Regulation (Public Sector Litigation)

A leading UK law firm is seeking a talented and driven Senior Solicitor or Associate (4+ PQE) to join its highly regarded Regulatory & Public Law team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of public law and regulatory litigation, advising a diverse client base that includes central and local government, regulators, and commercial entities.

Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh

Contract Type: Permanent

The Role You will be part of a top‑ranked team known for its expertise in public law, compliance, and regulatory matters. The role will focus on litigation and advisory work for public sector clients, including judicial reviews, statutory appeals, public inquiries, and housing‑related matters. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills, with potential access to a solicitor advocacy unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting legal advice and complex legal arguments
• Representing clients in courts and tribunals
• Managing investigations and liaising with regulators
• Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development
• Supporting the growth of the team and mentoring junior colleagues

About You

• 4+ years’ PQE with experience in litigation, public law, or regulatory matters
• Strong research, drafting, and communication skills
• A genuine interest in housing and local government law
• Experience with Sheriff Court and/or Court of Session procedure is desirable
• Self‑motivated, commercially aware, and client‑focused
