A leading independent Accountancy and Business Advisory firm with a strong presence across Scotland and Northern England is expanding its Glasgow team and seeking an experienced Personal Tax Compliance Manager. The firm has earned a reputation for combining technical excellence with a people-first culture. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients while leading, mentoring, and developing a growing team. You’ll play a key role in managing complex compliance cases, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional client experience. You’ll also have the freedom to identify and contribute to wider business improvements, supported by a leadership team that values initiative and fresh ideas.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, handling complex returns including profit sharing, CGT computations, and farmers averaging claims
- Review tax returns prepared by Tax Assistants and Seniors, providing coaching and technical guidance
- Liaise with HMRC and clients regarding compliance enquiries
- Plan, prioritise, and allocate workload effectively across the team
- Conduct 1:1 meetings, quarterly reviews, and appraisals for direct reports, supporting their professional growth
- Maintain awareness of current tax legislation and accounting standards
About You
- ATT qualified or qualified by experience (CTA desirable but not essential)
- Proven experience managing personal tax compliance portfolios within Practice
- Skilled at reviewing work, managing deadlines, and mentoring junior staff
- Organised, approachable, and client-focused with excellent communication skills
- Positive “can-do” attitude and strong attention to detail
- Experience using CCH software (desirable)
- Full UK driving licence essential
