If you’re a Personal Tax professional who takes pride in owning your work, building proper client relationships, and not being micromanaged—this will suit you down to the ground. We’re working with a well-established, highly regarded accountancy practice in West Lothian looking to appoint a Part-Time Tax Senior to take ownership of their personal tax portfolio within a busy local office. This is a key hire. You’ll effectively become the go-to person for personal tax—trusted to manage your own workload and deliver a high standard of service across a varied client base.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing and preparing personal tax returns across a diverse portfolio
  • Working with sole traders, partnerships, landlords, farmers, directors and trusts
  • Handling income tax and CGT matters end-to-end
  • Preparing P11Ds, payment on account calculations and coding notices
  • Liaising directly with clients and HMRC
  • Supporting with company secretarial work (e.g. confirmation statements)
  • Using CCH software for compliance work
  • (Optional) Supporting with corporation tax compliance if of interest

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in personal tax compliance (this is non-negotiable)
  • Confident managing your own workload with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients and building relationships
  • Organised, reliable and able to hit deadlines without being chased
  • Experience with CCH is advantageous
  • Exposure to (or interest in learning) corporation tax is a bonus—not essential

Why this role stands out:

  • Part-time (3 days per week) with genuine flexibility on how those days are worked
  • Autonomy – you’ll be trusted to run your own workload
  • Varied client base – no two days look the same
  • Supportive, close-knit team – no corporate politics
  • Long-term stability in a well-run local firm

This isn’t a role for someone who needs handholding. It’s for someone who knows personal tax inside out, enjoys being trusted, and wants a role that fits around life without sacrificing interesting work.
