Lusona is supporting a well-established Lanarkshire-based organisation within the FMCG food production sector to recruit a Trainee Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance graduate or early-career candidate to gain hands‑on experience within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
The Opportunity
Working as part of a small and supportive finance team, you will gain valuable exposure across financial accounting, cost accounting and manufacturing processes. This role offers a strong foundation for a long‑term career in accountancy, with practical experience in a dynamic and high‑volume production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with day‑to‑day financial transactions and accounting records
- Process purchase invoices, supplier payments and customer receipts
- Support bank reconciliations and cash management
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Help prepare management accounts and financial reports
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Assist with cost analysis including materials, labour and overheads
- Support inventory management, stock reconciliations and stock counts
- Reconcile supplier and customer accounts
- Assist with VAT, audit support and compliance processes
- Work collaboratively with production, procurement and sales teams
About You
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles
- Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
- Highly organised with the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented approach
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a finance career
Desirable:
