We are seeking a commercially minded and qualified Senior Project Accountant to play a key role in supporting the financial management and performance of a diverse project portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Project Managers and senior stakeholders, providing financial insight, challenge, and support throughout the full project lifecycle—from tender and business case development through to project completion. You will also lead and contribute to financial improvement initiatives, helping to drive commercial performance and operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Project Managers to oversee project accounting from inception through to completion.
  • Produce monthly project profit and loss reports and support variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
  • Improve project profitability measurement during the tender and feasibility stages.
  • Assist with quarterly forecasting, capital expenditure planning, and cash flow projections.
  • Support the preparation of business cases for major projects and capital investments.
  • Provide commercial advice and professional judgement to improve business performance.
  • Develop and maintain policies relating to project accounting and capitalisation.
  • Educate and influence stakeholders to strengthen financial accountability across the organisation.
  • Work alongside senior leadership on strategic, cross-functional projects that deliver commercial and operational improvements.
  • Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis and business initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Degree-level education.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • Experience in a similar project accounting or commercial finance role.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a wider team.
